FAQ

  • Why do you love HOSTEL so much?
I love HOSTEL and HOSTEL: PART II so much because it just makes me so happy. It's the perfect horror film - right amount of gore, amazing characters, set in beautiful places and a bloody amazing concept.

  • Why do you need more than one copy?
I don't *need* more than one, but when I got my first copy of it I saw that there were different cuts, steelbooks and blu rays so I got 5 or 6 of them that were available in the UK. After tweeting Eli a picture of them he said something positive about it (sorry, I don't remember what!) and so I just got more and more and more, and I will continue doing so until I have all of them.

  • What are your favourite copies of HOSTEL and HOSTEL: PART II?
My favourite copy of HOSTEL is the Japanese DVD I have that is also signed by Jennifer Lim (Kana), and my favourite from HOSTEL: PART II is both the Japanese DVD and the French non-censored version signed by Ruggero Deodata.

  • Why don't you like HOSTEL: PART III?
Part of the reason why I love the first two so much is that it's American's as tourists in Europe, but this one is in Las Vegas and it lost it's character for me. The only good thing, and I mean only, is that there is an audience to the killings. It's an interesting concept, but alike with the rest of the film, it just wasn't executed well, at all.

And also, no Eli Roth input? You can definitely tell.

  • What was your favourite part of your HOSTEL trip?
Absolutely and most definitely going to the old sugar mill. Before I went on the trip, I didn't know where it was, or if it still existed, but Eli tweeted me about it so I changed everything around on the second to last day and went there. I was sad when I was greeted with security guards and offices in the complex that it was in, but I was so excited to be there I managed to sneak inside of it. There's no proper doorways or anything, just holes spaces where I'm guessing doors used to be, so I climbed down a step rock hill to get inside. Inside was beautiful and amazing to look around!!! I'm hoping that I will get to go back there before they demolish it so I can spend more time there and take more photographs.

  • Have you met any of the cast or crew?
I met the wonderful Jennifer Lim at a film festival in Manchester. It was so last minute I could have cried, I only noticed that she was attending after a friend posted about the festival, so I double checked the line-up and saw that she was on it. This was literally two days before. The festival was pretty dire, but that was a plus for me as I got to spend a lot of time with her and talk to her. She told me which hotels they stayed in during filming HOSTEL, so next time I go to Prague/Český Krumlov, I know where I need to stay!!

Also at the festival was Ruggero Deodata. He was batshit crazy, I loved him! He was so funny and outspoken, even when he turned me down to recreate his scene in HOSTEL: PART II on his table. He spoke about Eli and his time on set and it was an amazing experience to meet him. I mainly met him for CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST obviously, because that film is amazing, but his cameo was one of my favourites ever.

I sort of met Eli, *ish*, sort of, Whilst Shock Horror magazine was still around, they offered me to go to a press junket in London. When I got there, they put me in with a group of about 6 or 7 other people, but they were mainly bloggers and we got to interview him, Nicolás López and Lorenza Izzo. His interview lasted about 25 minutes and even though I didn't really meet him, I still cried after because I wanted to tell him how much I was a fan girl and cry forever ~ :)
